  • Maintenance contract is a statutory requirement for fire detection and fire extinguishing systems. Maintenance is not mandatory for other equipment. Failure to carry out maintenance required by the manufacturer may result in the loss of warranty.
  • The maintenance of fire alarm and fire extinguishing systems can only be performed by an organisation certified according to the legal requirements. Additionally, it is recommended to establish such contracts with a company that also has the appropriate certification from the manufacturer of the products in question in order to demonstrate that they are familiar with the product, have the necessary tools and software and their employees have undergone proper training.
  • If a regulatory procedure is required due to the extent of the renovation, the fire protection authority may prescribe it after considering the intended use and size of the building as well as its technical parameters, the number of people residing in the building and the escape route options.
  • If the renovation is not subject to a regulatory procedure, it is advised to consider the possible installation based on the parameters of the building. In this case, approval may be obtained, yet it is not mandatory.
  • If there is an approved fire alarm system (installation and commissioning approval) in service, then due to the degree of the renovation (new room layout, interlocking rooms, additional rooms), the disassembly of a fire alarm system or its extension with sensors and manual call points or if a new or modified control system must be implemented, the changes must be approved by the fire protection authority.
  • The requirements for the authorization of the fire alarm equipment are set forth in Regulation 54/2014 (5 December) of the Minister of Interior.

It should be chosen based on the fire hazard classification of the materials built in, stored or used in technology processes in the room, the technology processes used in the building / building section, as well as the architectural design, the number of people temporarily or continuously residing in the room, the size of the room and the distance to the storage of the extinguishing agent from the protected room.

An unlimited amount of money can be spent on security systems, possibly unnecessarily, yet even with a large budget, it is easy to disregard a risk. Accordingly, it is recommended to initially design a concept plan with a specialist, who will start his work by thoroughly interviewing the client on the risk factors, the severity of the possible negative consequences and previously occurred events and will subsequently set up a list of risks with the technical solutions regarding protection.

The planning of a video system should be started after the design of the protection concept. You can choose the proper features of the system and purchase it based on said concept.

These features can include:

  • recognisability of the image taken
  • resolution and sensitivity of the cameras
  • data management method

In general, it is safe to say that the installation of an IP-based system is the only viable solution today, as every manufacturer has a product for this technology. In case of IP-based solutions, it is easy to upgrade the devices or expand the system. There are various alternative technologies (AHD, HDTVI, HDCVI) which are recommended when existing coaxial cables have to be used.

Of course, as with many other investments, it is strongly recommended to purchase all components from a known manufacturer in order to have a homogeneous system, thereby avoiding problems arising from incompatibility and mutually blame. It is also worth considering the presence / representation of the brand in Hungary and the kind of support can be expected in case of trouble.

  • The focal length of lenses is specified in mm (the most common focal length is between 2.1 and 12 mm)
  • The smaller the focal length, the greater the viewing angle of the camera.
  • Under 3 mm, the image will be distorted as it is close to the view angle of a fisheye objective.
  • This value is indicated in the camera’s data sheet, along with the camera type. The same camera type is usually available with different objectives.
  • Some cameras are equipped with varifocal objectives by the manufacturer, so the viewing angle can be adjusted at the installation site as necessary. Varifocal lenses are more expensive and complex. Their use on vehicles is NOT recommended due to their sensitivity to vibration.
  • In most cases, especially on vehicles, users want the widest possible viewing angle, therefore objectives with short focal length are required in such cases. If so, there are two “side effects” to consider:
    • at the same distance, the image of the object or person being observed will be represented by fewer pixels than in the case of smaller viewing angle objectives, and this hinders identification.
    • the image will be slightly distorted at the edges of the image. In case of security-related applications, this effect is not usually a problem.

The short answer would be that the larger, the better! However, a bigger resolution (more pixels) leads to more data to be stored, so the recording capacity will be smaller on a specific storage medium. For this reason, the resolution should be optimised for the requirements of recognition.

There is an international standard for CCTV image resolution depending on the purpose it is used for: MSZ EN 62676-4:2015 Video surveillance systems for security applications. Part 4: Application guidelines.

The recording length is affected by the following parameters:

  • image resolution
  • frame/sec value (how many images are to be recorded per second?)
  • compression quality
  • storage capacity
  • operation time per day (an average of x hours is set for every day, or recording only if motion is detected etc.)

These parameters can be set, most of them can be set differently for each camera, so the end result will be a truly customised solution.

Standard cameras always require some light to work. The interiors of public transport vehicles and trains are always illuminated. This illumination is absolutely sufficient for the video system to create recordings with outstanding quality. Accordingly, standard cameras are perfectly sufficient in such cases.
If the monitored area is not illuminated, you must use cameras equipped with built-in LEDs. These LEDs provide enough lighting for the camera.

Typical applications of LED cameras:

  • reversing cameras
  • passenger compartments of long-distance buses
  • truck cargo space
  • outdoor environments with poor illumination
  • indoor environments with no constant light sources at night

Pentolt Kft. is the Hungarian business partner of the Dutch Nedap company.Nedap develops, manufactures and sells goods protection solutions based on radio frequency (RF) technology.

We are the exclusive goods protection system provider partner of ALDI, Deichmann, Rossmann, H&M, Desigual and Tchibo stores, and we have also performed installations at Adidas, Pimkie, Motivi, Reserved, Högl and Tom Tailor shops.

  • customer counting, important visitor data which can be viewed on a WEB based interface on a monthly, weekly, daily and hourly basis
  • metal detection (if someone enters the store with a metal lined jacket or bag, the system gives a discreet signal to the competent employee)
  • remote access (system status, customer counting, alert-related data can be viewed through the internet, even through a mobile application, and the authorized personnel can modify or correct the settings or lower the volume of the system)
  • The latest digital iSense models can be linked to other security systems in the business, for example with a central controller, camera systems etc.
  • In addition to goods protection functions, product identification and inventory management services can also be implemented using RFID technology. The time of stock-taking may be reduced to a fraction, even one-tenth, of its previous amount.

In addition to complete goods protection systems (antennae, control electronics, deactivators, detachers), we also deal with the following accessories.

  • goods protection labels (RF label)
  • plastic goods protection etiquettes (hard tag)
  • bottle protector safety locks (Bottle Lox)
  • wrong way driving (WWD) detector

There are 3 common types of goods protection.

  • EM – electromagnetic; now obsolete, only found in a few places
    advantages: small labels
disadvantages: short distance between antennas (0.8 to 1 m)
  • AM – acoustic-magnetic, used in many stores
advantages: long distance between antennas, also functions with metal goods
disadvantages: small variety of tags (label), cannot be further improved
  • RF – radio frequency based, used in most places
advantages: reliability, can be further improved (remote access, integration with other applications, the first step towards RFID)
disadvantages: it doesn’t work with metal products

As technical development is based on RF technology, our company has chosen this approach.

RFID technology is based on the identification of the product (or people, livestock etc.), yet also has a goods protection feature. You can track the path of certain products (foodstuff) from the producer to the business. The RFID tag identifies the product, and when deactivated it also removes the product from the inventory. The time of stock-taking may be reduced to a fraction, even to one-tenth, of its previous amount.

Yes. Nedap has developed an access control system based on the needs of retail stores, called CUBE. Our company also installs this product range and, if requested, also performs design, repair and maintenance jobs.
